Experience / Qualifications:
1965-1972:
Served apprenticeship as design "drafts man" with Highgate Engineers (A Division of Comalco), from 1965 to 1969, studying Mechanical Engineering at college during apprenticeship. The company was involved in the design & manufacture of Aluminium Tankers and Tippers for the road transport industry and heavy mining industry. I was involved in the design of the above units and also had practical experience in the manufacturing plant.
Held position of Design Engineer and later Sales Co-Ordinator (Tanker Design & Sales) in Sydney (Head office) branch. Transferred to Kewdale, Perth, W.A. branch in 1970 to assist with establishment of new branch & held position as Design Engineer.
1972-1980:
Joined Transequip Pty Ltd, as Technical Manager. Transequip Pty Ltd. ,was a Sydney based company which also had interstate branches in Australia in Victoria & Queensland, & overseas in Singapore, & was involved in the modification of truck chassis & fitment of additional axles & suspensions to heavy trucks & trailers.
I designed & supervised the conversion of the 1st prototype tag axle (i.e. 3 axle ) conversion to a Mercedes Benz coach, which was approved by Mercedes Benz - Germany.
My duties were to oversee the design of all company products & modifications & specialised trailer manufacture. The company also distributed hydraulic truck cranes & tailgate loader products & imported & distributed truck/trailer wheels / rims, suspensions & axle equipment , Tow couplings & Fifth wheel ( i.e truck turntable) equipment .
My duties also included travelling interstate to branches & also overseas to U.S.A & Asia to supervise the fitment of company products & to source new products & liaise with the suppliers of these products on all technical matters.
I also represented the company on various Australian Standards committees & the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association as Technical Chairman & also served a term as President of the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association - (NSW) - (CVIA-NSW),which is now currently a division of the Motor Trader's Association (MTA).
1980-1993:
Commenced my own business -"T.T. Truck & Trailer Equipment Services P/L", which was involved in the modification of light & heavy trucks & trailers including wheelbase modifications, fitment of additional axles & suspension equipment , dual steering conversions & "twin" steer conversions & body building/manufacture of tray, van & tipper bodies. . Our company also designed & manufactured "specialised' trailer units & sold , fitted & distributed suspension & axle & wheel /rim equipment, bull-bars, tailgate loaders & hydraulic PTO/pump equipment
Employed up to 18 staff during the period & represented the company & industry on the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association & various industry & standards committees.
My duties included overseeing all design & manufacture of our products & obtaining relevant approvals where necessary with Roads & Traffic Authority & various national & state bodies for our products.
Our company contributed to design & assembly of one of the first "B" Double Trailer units to operate as a pilot unit in NSW.
We also offered our expertise to the industry as a "consultancy service" & I held approval from the NSW Roads & Traffic Authority as an "Approved Engineering Signatory" for inspecting & signing off as structurally & application adequate, modifications to heavy trucks & trailers & motor vehicles - including - passenger cars , light vehicle s & heavy vehicles.
Closed business in 1993.
Purchased the business "Tandem Chassis Developments" which specialised in Six Wheeler conversions to Holden 1 tonner vehicles and also fitted up "Stretchpak" dual axle conversions to various brands and models of 1 tonner light vehicles in this period.
1993-1999:
Joined Gilbert & Roach - (A Division of the Suttons Group of Companies), as Customer Relations Manager / Engineering Manager.
The company was one of the largest truck dealer ships in Australia, with distributor, sales & parts & service for such brands as Kenworth & Isuzu commercial vehicles.
My responsibilities & duties included liaison on all technical matters with the Australian Kenworth Paccar factory & Isuzu-General Motors & resolving any service or product problems with the above factories & internally between departments.
During 1998 -1999, I took on position as Sales/Technical Manager - Isuzu Industrial Engine Division at Gilbert & Roach, which involved application engineering , sales & support for the Isuzu range of Industrial, automotive & marine engines.
I (by mutual agreement), continued to conduct my Automotive consultancy business in my own time whilst employed by this company.
1999 to Present:
Due to an ever increasing customer base & requests, I resigned from Gilbert & Roach in March 1999 & resumed a position of full time - self employment as a Automotive Consultant Engineer.
Qualifications / Committees:
Mechanical Engineer (Cert) - (Awarded 31st December ,1975).
Member of Society of Automotive Engineers Australasia - (MSAEA)-Member No: 8751; ( Awarded 21/11/1989).
NSW committee member of NSW Division of S.AE.A.
Member of Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers (Since 15/6/1976).
Member ( & management committee member) of Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of NSW - Division of Motor Traders Association.
Approved Engineering Signatory to NSW Roads & Traffic Authority, ( to approve modifications to passenger cars, (PC), Light Commercial Vehicles & Heavy Commercial
Vehicles & Trailers).
Appointed approved licensed certifier to the Vehicle Safety Compliance Scheme (VSCCS Licensed Certifier) under NSW Government Transport Roads & Maritime Services (formally RTA) on the 20th December 2011.
Committee Member of SAE - NSW Division - Engineering Signatory Review Committee.
Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Council -Tradesman's Certificate - Motor Mechanic (Ref No: 2147 90 408 025387) - Issued 9/5/1981.
Attended Institute Of Automotive Mechanical Engineers Course of instruction on
"Basic Servicing of LPG Fuelled Vehicles" 25th July 1998.
Attended & successfully completed the Society Of Automotive Engineers Australasia - "Technical Accident Investigation & Reconstruction " course held on 17 - 21st September, 2001, conducted by Peter Bellion, B.Eng.Civ. MSAE - Sgt-Victoria Police Accident Investigation Unit.
Recognised Engineer (Recognition No: 2003/002266/4) by WorkCover New South Wales for inspection & certification of motorized wheeled type (road & track) amusement devices, such as mini cars, tractor trains, trackless trains, etc.
Automotive Engineering Consultancy Business Activities ( Current):
Business activities include Engineering Certificate inspections & reports for engine conversions, left to right hand steering conversions, suspension, gearbox, differential, roll bar, seat & seat belt installations, wheel & body modifications to passenger vehicles & Individually constructed vehicles, Certification of imported vehicles, Engineering Certificates & reports on modifications to heavy & light commercial vehicles as well as design & consultancy advice on automotive, commercial transport & trailer equipment modifications , tow bar design, motor homes, consultancy in regard to conforming to Australian Design Rules (ADR's), vehicle noise & brake testing & reports on equipment & components for disputes resolution & consultation with legal firms as an "expert witness", as well as inspection & certification of motorized wheel type (road & track ) amusement devices as recognised qualified Engineer by Work Cover New South Wales.

Special interests include motor circuit racing & drag racing participation as entrant & "pit-crew" in club events, & vehicle preparation.
